Berkeley County ranked sixth among counties in South Carolina by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median income of Berkeley County residents was $29,922 per year, adjusted for inflation. It had 74,931 households with a population of 209,065.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Charleston County with $31,846 per year after adjusting for inflation – $1,924 more than Berkeley County. It had 156,482 households with a population of 394,708.

The county with the lowest median resident income in the state was Allendale County with $17,823 per year after adjusting for inflation – $12,099 less than Berkeley County. It had 3,350 households with a population of 9,214.
