Berkeley County ranked sixth among counties in South Carolina by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median income of Berkeley County residents was $31,055 per year, adjusted for inflation. It had 76,881 households with a population of 215,044.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Charleston County with $34,431 per year after adjusting for inflation – $3,376 more than Berkeley County. It had 159,195 households with a population of 401,165.

The county with the lowest median resident income in the state was Dillon County with $18,455 per year after adjusting for inflation – $12,600 less than Berkeley County. It had 11,029 households with a population of 30,689.
