The College of Charleston’s equestrian team, currently ranked third in the nation, will conclude February with two home meets. The Cougars are set to face top-ranked Lynchburg on February 27 and Centenary on February 28 at White Horses. Friday’s competition is scheduled for 2 p.m., while Saturday’s meet will begin at 9 a.m.
Earlier this month, Charleston defeated then-No. 1 Dartmouth on February 15, following a win over then-No. 3 Sacred Heart the previous day. Senior Maddi Cardelli was named ECAC Rider of the Week in Fences after being recognized as Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) against Dartmouth with a score of 89.
The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) team is preparing for regionals on March 7 in Greenwood, South Carolina. Meanwhile, the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) squad will travel to Centenary for another competition on March 10.
The NCEA lineup against Lynchburg includes Samantha Aisenberg, Maddi Cardelli, Samantha Elliott, Camilla Murray, and Olivia Welsh in Fences; and Samantha Aisenberg, Camilla Murray, Kenda Murray, Lainie Rubin, and Olivia Welsh in Flat.
Against Centenary, the Fences riders will be Samantha Aisenberg, Maddi Cardelli, Olivia Lonneman, Camilla Murray, and Olivia Welsh. The Flat lineup features Samantha Aisenberg, Camilla Murray, Sydney Callagy, Lainie Rubin, and Olivia Welsh.
