The Citadel Bulldogs, featuring former Hanahan High School standout Riley Ballard, suffered an 8-4 defeat to the Mercer Bears in NCAA Division I baseball action on Saturday, March 21, at 2 p.m.

The contest was held at OrthoGeorgia Park at Claude Smith Field and marked the teams’ second meeting this season. In their previous matchup on Friday, March 20, the Bulldogs were shut out 11-0 by the Bears.

Ballard allowed three earned runs over a third of an inning, walking one batter.

The Bulldogs are set to face the Bears again at OrthoGeorgia Park at Claude Smith Field on Sunday, March 22.
