The College of Charleston equestrian team lost to Centenary on March 13, with a final score of 5-4 in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association regular season finale held in Long Valley, New Jersey.
This result marks a setback for the top-ranked Cougars as they concluded their regular season. The close competition saw standout performances from seniors Maddi Cardelli and Olivia Lonneman, who both earned points for Charleston in the fences event. Cardelli was recognized with Most Outstanding Performer honors after scoring an 81.
After the break, juniors Lainie Rubin and Camilla Murray helped Charleston gain momentum by securing two consecutive points in the flat event. However, Centenary responded by winning the last three points to clinch the victory.
Looking ahead, College of Charleston will host the 2026 Eastern College Athletic Conference Single Discipline Championships from March 19 to March 21 at White Horses.
The outcome of this match sets up an important postseason opportunity for Charleston as they prepare to compete on their home turf.
