The College of Charleston equestrian team was ranked No. 1 in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Single Discipline poll for the first time in program history, according to a March 10 announcement from the league.

This ranking comes as the Cougars approach the end of their regular season with a record of six wins and three losses. The team achieved notable victories in February, defeating two programs that previously held the top spot. On Feb. 13, Charleston beat Dartmouth by a score of 6-4, and later that month on Feb. 27, they handed Lynchburg a 7-3 loss.

Since joining NCEA competition two seasons ago, Charleston has secured wins against three top-ranked squads. Their inaugural meet saw them defeat Lynchburg with a score of 6-4 on Sept. 28, 2024.

Charleston is set to conclude its regular season on March 7 with a meet at Centenary scheduled for 10 a.m., before hosting the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships from March 19 to March 21 at White Horses.
