The College of Charleston announced on March 26 that five members of its equestrian team will compete at the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Zones event, which is scheduled for March 28 in Savannah, Georgia.
This development follows the advancement of these student-athletes from the IHSA Regionals held earlier in March. The qualifying riders include freshman Lily Wilson, who will participate in the Open Flat; sophomore Meredith Miramonti in Limit Flat; sophomore Clara Bowman in Intermediate Flat; sophomore Emma Heatherton in Limit Fences; and senior Maggie Armes in Intro.
The IHSA Zones serve as a qualifying round for student-athletes aiming to reach the national level. Riders who advance from this competition will move on to represent their school at the IHSA Nationals, which are set to take place May 3-5 in Tryon, North Carolina.
The College encourages those interested to follow complete coverage of its equestrian program through its official Instagram account (@cofcequestrian).
As these athletes prepare for upcoming competitions, their performances at Zones may determine their participation at one of collegiate riding’s premier events later this spring.
