Rep. Nancy Mace, who represents South Carolina’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on February 1 and 2, 2026, addressing topics ranging from criminal justice to local weather and media coverage.
On February 1, Mace commented on a recent legal case involving Travis Reed Gaye. She wrote, “Brittany is a strong mom fighting to protect our children from predators, since our justice system won’t. Travis Reed Gaye pleaded guilty to possessing video of an infant being sexually abused. He should have been sent to prison for 70 years. Instead, he got probation, violated” (posted February 1, 2026).
Later that day, Mace reflected on local events in her state: “Snow days in South Carolina don’t happen often, so when they do, it’s something special. We hope you got to slow down this weekend, spend time with your families and enjoy some snow. There’s no place like the Lowcountry! South Carolina STRONG.” (posted February 1, 2026).
Addressing upcoming media coverage about herself on February 2, she stated: “As NY Mag publishes the next national hit piece against me tomorrow, the establishment doesn’t go after people who fall in line. They go after people who don’t. I’ll take that as a compliment. When you stand for something, you make enemies. I’ve never let that stop me from doing” (posted February 2, 2026).
Mace has served in Congress since replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021 and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently residing in Charleston at age 45, she graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
