U.S. Representative Nancy Mace, who serves South Carolina’s 1st district, posted a series of tweets on April 29 and 30, 2026, addressing legislative funding issues, pending House debates, and the importance of skilled trades in the American workforce.

On April 29, Mace commented on ongoing congressional deliberations regarding Department of Homeland Security funding: “Still waiting for the Senate to fund the NICE men and women of DHS…”.

Later that evening, she addressed upcoming legislative actions related to the Farm Bill: “I will be debating 3 amendments on the floor if the House for the Farm Bill if we ever get to debate the Farm Bill. Looking out for South Carolina shrimpers and fishermen in the first two and the third will be Violet’s Law which provides for the adoption of retired lab animals”.

Shortly after midnight on April 30, Mace highlighted workforce needs beyond four-year college degrees: “A four-year college degree is not in the cards for everyone. America needs skilled workers. Electricians. Welders. Plumbers. HVAC technicians. The people who keep this country running every single day. Trade schools, apprenticeships, and alternative workforce programs are not a”.

Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st District in Congress since 2021 after serving in South Carolina’s state legislature from 2018 to 2020. She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently resides in Charleston at age 45. Her educational background includes graduating from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
