Rep. Nancy Mace, U.S. Congresswoman representing South Carolina’s 1st district since 2021, posted a series of tweets on January 5, 2026, addressing topics ranging from international relations to congressional security and stock trading.
In a tweet posted at 4:10 a.m. UTC, Mace drew a comparison between historical U.S. foreign policy and current events: “General MacArthur helped Japan become a thriving democracy after WWII. President Trump has the strength to help Venezuela achieve the same freedom. We trust the Trump Doctrine.”
Later that morning, at 11:43 a.m. UTC, she commented on the issue of insider information and potential financial gain among lawmakers: “Can you imagine how many Members of Congress would have traded stock ahead of time and how much money they would have made if the Administration tipped us off?”
At 12:30 p.m. UTC, Mace addressed concerns about threats faced by members of Congress and criticized Alan Wilson for his response to requests for increased security measures: “‘Nancy gets more death threats than probably anyone.’ — Rep. Ralph Norman
Alan Wilson knew this.
He knew the threats were real.
He knew they were constant.
And he still mocked our requests for basic security, calling us ‘entitled’ and ‘spoiled.’
Right up until his own office”
Mace has served in Congress since defeating Joe Cunningham in 2021 and previously represented her community in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently resides in Charleston. Mace graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
