U.S. Representative Nancy Mace, who serves South Carolina’s 1st district, posted a series of statements on her official X account between October 13 and 14, 2025, addressing issues related to free speech, military priorities, and support for domestic violence survivors.
On October 13, Mace commented on the intersection of free speech and threats, stating, “Free speech shouldn’t come with a death threat.” On the following day, she emphasized the military’s focus, posting, “The military’s top priority is readiness.”
Later that morning, Mace highlighted her office’s collaboration with a local nonprofit: “MACE WIN: Our office worked with Hopeful Horizons, a nonprofit here in the Lowcountry dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence, abuse, and assault. This week, the Department of Justice awarded them a $500,000 grant to help expand legal assistance services for victims.”
Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2021, after succeeding Joe Cunningham. She previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977, Mace currently resides in Charleston and graduated from The Citadel in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
