Rep. Nancy Mace, U.S. Congresswoman representing South Carolina’s 1st district since 2021, used her social media platform on June 1, 2026, to address the beginning of hurricane season and reflect on her personal ties to the state as well as legislative achievements.
In a post dated June 1, 2026, Mace highlighted the official start of hurricane season in South Carolina: “Today marks the start of the 2026 hurricane season here in South Carolina. Now through November 30th, it is important to stay prepared and stay informed. We want to ensure our communities stay safe and are ready for whatever this season may bring. South Carolina STRONG.”
Later that evening, she shared insights about her upbringing: “I was born and raised in South Carolina. I grew up in Goose Creek, a small town rooted in hard work, faith, and love for our country. This is not just where I am from. It is part of who I am. Growing up in the Lowcountry has shaped everything I do. The values I learned growing”.
Mace also referenced recent legislative progress regarding federal hiring practices: “Our Skills-Based Federal Contracting Act PASSED the House in February. The federal government has been requiring college degrees for contractor jobs where a degree has nothing to do with the work. Hardworking Americans with real skills have been locked out. Not because they are”.
Mace’s background includes serving in both chambers of government; she previously held office in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020 before being elected to Congress and replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021 (https://www.congress.gov/member/nancy-mace/M001207). Born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1977 and now residing in Charleston, Mace graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
