Rep. Nancy Mace, U.S. Congresswoman representing South Carolina’s 1st district since 2021, posted a series of statements on her Twitter account on May 13, 2026, addressing issues ranging from New York City politics to the state budget in South Carolina and local economic development.

In a tweet posted at 01:25 UTC, Mace criticized New York Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani and his approach to city governance. She wrote, “We called it back in October. Socialism does not work in America.

Zohran Mamdani is running New York City into the ground. He’s already said they have no money and is asking for a bailout. It’s been 4 months.

New York City deserves better.”

Later that morning at 09:59 UTC, Mace addressed the ongoing budget impasse in South Carolina’s legislature by calling on Governor Henry McMaster to take action. She stated, “I’m calling upon Governor @henrymcmaster to convene a special session immediately following the South Carolina Senate’s adjournment at 5:00 p.m. Thursday.

The General Assembly has failed to pass a budget, making a special session a requirement rather than a suggestion,”

At 11:00 UTC, Mace highlighted her meeting with the leadership of the Charleston RiverDogs baseball team and their impact on the local community. She tweeted, “Our office sat down with the Charleston RiverDogs’ President and Owner. The RiverDogs are a cornerstone of the Lowcountry community, driving tourism, boosting the local economy, and bringing Charleston together.

They are more than just a baseball team. They’re an economic driver”

Mace has served as U.S. Representative for South Carolina’s 1st District since defeating Joe Cunningham in 2021 and previously held office in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently residing in Charleston, she graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
