Rep. Nancy Mace, a U.S. Congresswoman representing South Carolina’s 1st district since 2021, addressed several issues on her Twitter account on January 8, 2026, including oversight of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s administration, local infrastructure funding in North Charleston, and criticism of South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson.
In her first post of the day, Mace questioned the actions of Governor Tim Walz by stating: “If Tim Walz cared about taxpayers we wouldn’t have to hold a @GOPOversight hearing on his administration.” (January 8, 2026).
Later that afternoon, she announced support for federal grant funding in her district: “MACE WIN: We helped support a $1 million Reconnecting Communities & Equity (RCE) grant for the City of North Charleston to improve transportation access and safety through targeted local infrastructure improvements. This funding will support locally driven projects that make” (January 8, 2026).
That evening, Mace turned attention to state-level criminal justice issues by criticizing Attorney General Alan Wilson’s handling of prosecutorial oversight: “Alan Wilson’s data shows what happens when prosecutors face no oversight. This is exactly why we introduced the Preventing Prosecutors from Protecting Predators Act. This data didn’t happen by accident. It happened because our Attorney General Alan Wilson refuses to do his job.” (January 8, 2026).
Mace has served in Congress since replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021 and previously held office in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently resides in Charleston. Mace is also a graduate of The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 1999.
