U.S. Representative Nancy Mace, who serves South Carolina’s 1st district in Congress, posted a series of statements on January 8, 2026, addressing topics ranging from federal-state authority disputes to local infrastructure improvements and an incident involving federal officers.
In a post made at 12:47 p.m. UTC, Mace commented on reports regarding Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and the potential deployment of the state’s National Guard. She wrote, “Tim Walz is preparing to deploy the Minnesota National Guard against federal agents. Someone remind him: Donald Trump is Commander in Chief. And federal authority supersedes state authority. That’s not opinion, that’s the Constitution. What Walz is threatening has a name:”
Later that day at 1:55 p.m., Mace highlighted her office’s efforts in securing funding for regional transportation infrastructure: “MACE WIN: Our office helped secure a $300,000 federal grant for the Hilton Head Island Airport Air Traffic Control Tower, enhancing aviation safety, increasing reliability, and supporting continued growth for Lowcountry travelers and businesses. LOWCOUNTRY FIRST.”
At 3:05 p.m., she addressed an incident involving violence against law enforcement personnel: “This was a clear act of domestic terrorism. A vehicle was used as a weapon against federal officers. After years of demonizing cops, Democrats now own the consequences.”
Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st District since 2021 after previously serving in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently residing in Charleston, she graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
