Rep. Nancy Mace, a U.S. Congresswoman representing South Carolina’s 1st district since 2021, posted a series of statements on April 13, 2026, calling for the resignation of several congressional colleagues and highlighting concerns about the treatment of sexual assault survivors in court.
In her first post at 21:00 UTC, Mace stated: “We don’t care what party you’re in. Stealing millions in taxpayer dollars, sexually assaulting your staff, lying about your service record, none of it is acceptable and none of it goes unnoticed.

Later that evening at 21:42 UTC, she followed up with another statement regarding Eric Swalwell: “Eric Swalwell resigned. First smart thing he’s done. Tony Gonzales needs to follow his lead.”
Addressing broader issues faced by survivors of sexual assault at 22:01 UTC, Mace wrote: “Right now, survivors of sexual assault can be forced to relive their trauma in court. Their sexual history, medical records, psychological background, and private lives are often used by defense attorneys in ways which shift focus away from the accused and onto the victim.
Mace has served as a member of Congress since replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021 and previously held office in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently residing in Charleston, she graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
