U.S. Representative Nancy Mace, who serves South Carolina’s 1st district, made a series of posts on her official social media account on September 16, 2025, addressing recent disciplinary actions at Coastal Carolina University.

In a post at 18:27 UTC, Mace wrote, “The death penalty is the ONLY justifiable punishment.” Later that day at 18:37 UTC, she provided an update regarding personnel decisions at the university: “UPDATE: This individual has been fired. Thank you, @CCUChanticleers. https://t.co/fDKmVmVMB4”

At 19:10 UTC, Mace elaborated further on the incident and its consequences: “UPDATE: Coastal Carolina has fired one employee and suspended another without pay after they celebrated Charlie Kirk’s assassination and suggested we might be next. Thank you, @CCUChanticleers, for your swift action. Accountability isn’t optional, especially on the taxpayer’s https://t.co/x45WWSlJnL”

Nancy Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st District in Congress since 2021 and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently resides in Charleston. Mace graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
