Nancy Mace comments on government power and child welfare legislation

Rep. Nancy Mace, a member of the U.S. Congress representing South Carolina’s 1st district, shared several updates on her official social media account on March 24, 2026.

In a post from that day, Mace expressed skepticism about government accountability: “Everyone knows our government is only concerned with protecting themselves. They will never vote to take their own power away.” (March 24, 2026).

Later the same day, she congratulated General Frank McKenzie on his new role at The Citadel: “Congratulations to The Citadel for electing General Frank McKenzie as their newest President. The Corps of Cadets is in good hands. Go Dogs!” (March 24, 2026).

In another post, Mace addressed concerns about border security and child welfare under the current administration: “Under the Biden Administration’s open border policies, over 300,000 children entered our country and disappeared. Unaccounted for. Untracked. Lost. We introduced the No More Missing Children Act to instill strict vetting of sponsors, GPS tracking of children, mandatory home” (March 24, 2026).

Mace has served in Congress since replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021 and previously represented her district in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. She was born in Fort Bragg in 1977 and currently resides in Charleston. Notably, Mace graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.

General Frank McKenzie’s appointment as president marks a significant leadership change at The Citadel—a military college where Mace herself is an alumna.
