U.S. Representative Nancy Mace, who serves South Carolina’s 1st district, posted a series of tweets on October 8, 2025, criticizing Alan Wilson’s approach to the prosecution in the case of Logan Federico. Mace’s comments focus on a letter sent by Wilson, the South Carolina Attorney General, to the Fifth Circuit Solicitor regarding the death penalty for Alexander Dickey.
In her first tweet, Mace stated, “Wilson sent a letter pressuring the Fifth Circuit Solicitor to ‘strongly consider’ the death penalty and gave a Friday deadline, even though his office hadn’t reviewed all the evidence. When the letter went public, his team tried to walk it back, calling it ‘inartful.’” (October 8, 2025).
She continued her criticism in a follow-up post: “Justice for Logan Federico doesn’t mean chasing headlines. Justice for Logan Federico means making sure Alexander Dickey never walks free again and that he gets the ultimate punishment. If Alan Wilson truly wants justice, he should stop talking and start prosecuting. But wait,” (October 8, 2025).
Mace also addressed concerns from legal professionals about Wilson’s actions: “Even lawyers who agree with the death penalty said Wilson’s political PR stunt risks the ENTIRE CASE. One attorney said Wilson’s grandstanding like this could have ‘serious consequences for the legal case.’ This means if the state wins a conviction, the defense could use” (October 8, 2025).
Nancy Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st district in Congress since 2021, after previously serving in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently resides in Charleston. Mace is also a graduate of The Citadel, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
