Rep. Nancy Mace, a member of Congress representing South Carolina’s 1st district since 2021, posted a series of statements on January 7, 2026, regarding a failed motion to subpoena immigration records and broader concerns about accountability in Washington.
In her first post at 23:13 UTC, Mace stated, “Tonight Democrats and Republicans teamed up to kill my motion to subpoena the immigration records of Ilhan Omar and her brother/husband. DC did what it always does – protect its own. The American people spoke clearly in 2024 – they are tired of business as usual and backroom”.
Minutes later at 23:14 UTC, she followed up with another statement: “I was the only ‘no’ on Oversight when the motion to table was voted on.”
Later that evening at 23:36 UTC, Mace addressed actions by elected officials toward federal agents: “When elected officials tell federal agents to ‘get the hell out,’ they are lighting the fuse. Now they are pretending they bear no responsibility when it explodes.”
Mace has served in Congress since replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021 and previously represented her community in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977, she currently resides in Charleston. She graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
