U.S. Representative Nancy Mace, who represents South Carolina’s 1st district in Congress, posted a series of statements on October 1, 2025, criticizing Democratic lawmakers over recent policy disputes and a government shutdown.

In her first post at 3:33 a.m., Mace stated: “Republicans delivered the Working Family Tax Cut, the largest middle & working-class tax cut in U.S. history. Democrats delivered… a government shutdown.”

Later that morning at 4:34 a.m., she continued her criticism by posting: “Democrats would rather pay for free healthcare for illegal aliens than pay our troops. Soldiers shouldn’t be punished because Democrats can’t do their jobs.”

By 10:05 a.m., Mace further asserted: “While President Trump is fighting for Americans, Democrats are buying votes with free healthcare and shutting down the country to do it.”

Mace has served as the U.S. Representative for South Carolina’s 1st District since 2021, following her tenure in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently resides in Charleston. Mace is also an alumna of The Citadel, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
