U.S. Representative Nancy Mace, who represents South Carolina’s 1st district in Congress, posted a series of statements on her official social media account on September 19, 2025, addressing free speech controversies, congressional censure efforts, and new legislative initiatives.
In a post published at 01:17 UTC, Mace criticized perceived inconsistencies in public reactions to free speech issues: “The Left is outraged over someone being fired for free speech, but not outraged when an innocent man was assassinated for it. Priorities as backwards as their politics.”
Later that morning at 02:48 UTC, she commented on the recent U.S. House vote regarding Representative Ilhan Omar and referenced remarks about conservative commentator Charlie Kirk: “REMINDER: 4 Republicans and 210 Democrats said Ilhan Omar didn’t deserve to be censured last night. These disgraceful comments about Charlie Kirk show exactly why we tried.”
At 03:00 UTC the same day, Mace announced the introduction of legislation targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in Washington D.C.: “We’re done. No more gender-bender nonsense. No more racial quotas. No more taxpayer-funded activism. Our No DEI in DC Act was introduced today. DEI’s days in D.C. are numbered.”
Nancy Mace has served in the U.S. Congress since 2021 after replacing Joe Cunningham and previously held office in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently residing in Charleston, she graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
