U.S. Representative Nancy Mace, who serves South Carolina’s 1st district in Congress, shared her experiences and concerns about Americans stranded in the Middle East through a series of social media posts on March 12 and 13, 2026.
In a post published on March 12, Mace reflected on her recent visit to the region: “What I saw in the Middle East will stay with me forever. The courage of volunteers running toward danger. The relief on the faces of families finally heading home.
Leadership is not a title. Leadership is stepping up in real time, under pressure, when lives depend on it. https://t.co/SyGEx1ZlcD“
On March 13, Mace described efforts to secure transportation for Americans seeking to leave the area: “While I was in the Middle East this week I asked for transatlantic plane(s) to get Americans to America. They wouldn’t give me even one.
There are thousands still stranded, begging for help. We were turning Americans away last night. Pregnant mothers. Babies. Students. Because”
She continued later that day: “THOUSANDS still stranded. If we had the planes we could get them out in no time. @greybullrescue”
Nancy Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st district since replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021 and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1977, she currently resides in Charleston and graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
