Nancy Mace discusses prison safety bill and defense funding amendments

U.S. Representative Nancy Mace, who serves South Carolina’s 1st district, shared updates on legislative initiatives and current events through a series of posts on her official social media account in December 2025.

On December 13, Mace announced the introduction of new legislation, stating: “We introduced the Prison Rape Prevention Act to ensure men with severe gender-related delusions are not housed in women’s prisons. When the state takes custody of an individual, it also assumes full responsibility for their safety. Housing biological men in women’s facilities”.

Later that evening, she commented on an unfolding emergency at Brown University: “May God Bless the first responders on the scene right now hunting down a mass shooter at Brown University.” (December 14).

In another post from early December 14, Mace highlighted her role in national defense policy: “In the final draft of the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act we secured 15 amendments and authorizations of over $300 million for Lowcountry military and bases. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, a military brat and the first woman to graduate from The”.

Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st District in Congress since replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently residing in Charleston, Mace is also noted as being the first woman to graduate from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
