Rep. Nancy Mace, who represents South Carolina’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 26, 2026, addressing recent legislative action on public safety and expressing condolences to a congressional staff member.
In her first post of the day, Rep. Mace wrote: “We voted YES on @RepAndrewGarbarino’s Protecting Our Nation’s Capital Emergency Act. Washington, D.C. had become one of the most dangerous cities in America, and radical, anti-police policies have only hurt officers’ ability to keep our streets safe. Public safety doesn’t https://t.co/Rl6ph9CqWy” (January 26, 2026).
Later that afternoon, she stated: “LAW AND ORDER IS BACK. The murder rate across major US cities has dropped to lowest level since 1900. We have an administration who prioritizes the law of the land and policies to keep Americans safe. Soft-on-crime policies do not work. Law and order does. https://t.co/43QjoOA5NC” (January 26, 2026).
In a subsequent tweet posted in the evening, Rep. Mace expressed condolences: “We’re extending our deepest sympathy and prayers to Rep. Joe Wilson’s Chief of Staff, Craig Metz and his family following the passing of his wife, Karen. May her life and legacy continue to be a blessing to those who knew and loved her.
‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they'” (January 26, 2026).
Rep. Nancy Mace has served as a member of Congress representing South Carolina’s 1st District since replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021. She previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020 and was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 before moving to Charleston where she currently resides. Mace graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
