U.S. Representative Nancy Mace, who serves South Carolina’s 1st district, addressed a range of policy and public safety issues in a series of posts on her official social media account between January 9 and January 10, 2026.
On January 9, Mace discussed proposed legislation concerning admissions to U.S. military service academies. She stated, “Our service academies have one job: train officers who can win wars and bring our troops home safely. Our Restoring Merit in the Military Service Academies Act would ensure admissions at the military service academies will be based solely on merit—test scores, physical fitness” (January 9, 2026).
Later that day, she commented on recent law enforcement actions in Minnesota. Mace wrote, “ICE removed 1,000+ violent criminals from Minnesota streets. Democrats are protesting the arrests, not the crimes. Unreal.” (January 9, 2026).
On January 10, Mace turned attention to local criminal justice matters in South Carolina. She posted about a specific case in Mount Pleasant: “A convicted child sex offender pled guilty right here in Mount Pleasant in November. He violated parole. He was arrested again. And he was released the same day. Why? Because South Carolina has an Attorney General who refuses to prosecute child predators and a justice system” (January 10, 2026).
Nancy Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st congressional district since replacing Joe Cunningham in Congress in 2021 and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently residing in Charleston, Mace is also an alumna of The Citadel where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
