Rep. Nancy Mace, who has represented South Carolina’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2021, posted a series of statements on June 2, 2026, highlighting her personal background and recent legislative actions.

In a post reflecting on her time at The Citadel, Mace wrote on June 2, 2026: “The girl who walked into The Citadel and refused to quit, no matter what was thrown at her, is still inside of me. I was the first woman to graduate from one of the most demanding military colleges in the country. They did not make it easy. But I did not leave. I will not quit.” Mace graduated from The Citadel in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree, becoming the first woman to do so from the institution.

Later that day, she addressed congressional accountability regarding taxpayer funds, “Washington has always protected its own. We said enough is enough. Members of Congress have been using YOUR tax dollars to cover up their own misconduct for years. We moved to subpoena the sexual harassment slush fund records and gave you the names of every Member who used your” (June 2, 2026).

In another statement focused on government spending transparency, Mace stated, “Taxpayers deserve to know how their money is being spent. The federal government spends over $100 billion annually on IT, cybersecurity, and software licenses, yet agencies often don’t even know what they’ve already purchased. Our SAMOSA Act changes this. Passed by the House” (June 2, 2026).

Mace’s remarks come as part of her ongoing efforts as a member of Congress representing South Carolina’s coastal region since replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021 and after previously serving in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg in 1977 and currently residing in Charleston, Mace has emphasized both personal perseverance and legislative reform throughout her career.
