Rep. Nancy Mace, a U.S. Congresswoman representing South Carolina’s 1st district since 2021, posted several updates on her official social media account in early May regarding legislative priorities and local achievements.
On May 3, Mace cited broad public support for voter identification laws and urged legislative action: “Over 80% of Americans support voter ID. 95% of Republicans. 71% of Democrats. The AMERICAN people. This is a no-brainer. The Senate needs to pass the SAVE America Act and get it to the President’s desk before midterms. The integrity of our democracy depends on it.”
The following day, she addressed economic challenges facing local industries, writing on May 4: “Our shrimpers and fishermen should never have to struggle to compete with foreign competitors undercutting them while Washington looks the other way. We’re making sure they don’t have to. South Carolina STRONG.”
Later that same day, Mace highlighted federal funding secured for public safety initiatives in her district: “Since 2024, our office has secured more than $5 million in federal public safety funding for the Lowcountry.
$625,000 to hire five new officers in Summerville
$500,000 through the COPS Hiring Program for the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office
$1.8 million in new equipment”
Mace has represented South Carolina’s coastal region since replacing Joe Cunningham in Congress after the 2020 election and previously served in the state legislature from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently residing in Charleston, she graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
