Rep. Nancy Mace, who represents South Carolina’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on April 1, 2026, addressing topics related to the military and constitutional authority.
In her first message, Mace expressed support for U.S. service members stationed abroad: “God bless America, our Commander-in-Chief Donald J. Trump, and the 50,000 United States service members currently in the Middle East.” (April 1, 2026).
Later that day, she acknowledged military families during a month dedicated to their recognition: “April is the Month of the Military Child. Military kids are the quiet strength behind every deployment, every move, every missed birthday, every holiday with an empty seat at the table. They sacrifice too, and too often go unnoticed. We see you because we were you. We lived” (April 1, 2026).
Mace also referenced presidential powers outlined in the U.S. Constitution: “Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution gives the President the authority in extraordinary circumstances to convene both houses of Congress, or either of them. The longest government shutdown in American history of the Department of Homeland Security during an elevated” (April 1, 2026).
Nancy Mace has served as a member of Congress since replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021 and previously served in South Carolina’s state legislature from 2018 to 2020. She was born in Fort Bragg in 1977 and resides in Charleston. Mace graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
