Rep. Nancy Mace, U.S. Congresswoman representing South Carolina’s 1st district, posted a series of tweets on May 21, 2026, highlighting her participation in a local veterans’ event and introducing a proposed constitutional amendment regarding eligibility for federal office.

In her first post at 12:30 p.m., Mace wrote: “Our office joined the Naval Hospital’s VA 2K Walk and Roll to recognize their incredible nurses and to support homeless veterans. To the nurses caring for our Lowcountry veterans day in and day out, thank you. South Carolina STRONG.”

Later that afternoon at 2:30 p.m., she announced legislative action: “ICYMI: We introduced a joint resolution proposing a constitutional amendment REQUIRING Representatives, Senators, federal judges at every level, and all Senate-confirmed officers to be natural born citizens. This is not complicated. If you hold power in the American government,”

At 3:01 p.m., Mace referenced Rep. Ilhan Omar while discussing the rationale behind the proposed amendment: “Ilhan Omar is a prime example of why our constitutional amendment is necessary. She allegedly committed marriage and immigration fraud to get her brother into this country, is tied to millions in a Somali fraud case in her own state, and has made comments publicly about how she”

Mace has served as U.S. Representative for South Carolina’s 1st District since 2021 after replacing Joe Cunningham. Before joining Congress, she was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977, Mace currently resides in Charleston and graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
