U.S. Representative Nancy Mace, who serves South Carolina’s 1st district in Congress, marked Memorial Day 2026 by reflecting on the sacrifices made by American service members and sharing a personal tribute to her father through a series of posts on social media.
In her first post of the day, dated May 25, 2026 at 11:30 a.m., Mace stated, “Freedom is not free. Today we pause to remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. The ones who never came home. The ones who gave everything so we could have everything. May we never take for granted the price paid for our freedom. God bless”.
Later that afternoon, she posted another message at 4:01 p.m.: “Land of the free because of the brave.”
In an evening post at 11:30 p.m., Mace offered a personal reflection about her father’s military service: “This Memorial Day, I’m thinking of my dad. He gave 28 years to this country. Distinguished Service Cross. Silver Star. Purple Heart. Multiple Bronze Stars for valor in Vietnam. The most decorated graduate The Citadel ever produced. A warrior. A leader. But most of all, my hero.”
Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st District in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Joe Cunningham and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1977 and currently resides in Charleston at age 45.
A graduate of The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 1999, Mace’s connection to military service extends both personally and academically.
