Rep. Nancy Mace, a U.S. Congresswoman representing South Carolina’s 1st district since 2021, posted a series of statements on her social media account on September 17, 2025, addressing legislative procedures and expressing concerns about threats to her safety.
In her first post at 01:40 UTC, Mace wrote, “Expelling a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives requires a 2/3 vote… A censure and kicking off committees is a simple majority.”
Later that day at 02:00 UTC, she addressed the climate in Congress and personal threats: “How are we supposed to have unity when we’re dealing with people who wish death upon me and my children? Another day of violent voicemails, we’ve received within a week of Charlie Kirk’s political assassination.”
At 11:00 UTC on the same day, Mace called for disciplinary action against another member of Congress: “Half measures won’t cut it. Censure Ilhan Omar. Remove her from her committees. Actions have consequences.”
Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st District in Congress since replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021 and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently resides in Charleston. In addition to her legislative experience, Mace graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
