Rep. Nancy Mace, a member of the U.S. Congress representing South Carolina’s 1st district, announced the passing of her father, General Mace, in a series of posts on April 15, 2026.

In her first post at 3:55 a.m. UTC, Mace wrote: “Tonight at 9:56 PM, my father went Home. In his final moments I read him testimony from his soldiers – words describing his heroism during December 2-4, 1968, the acts that earned him the Distinguished Service Cross with Valor. We had just discovered new testimony from the men https://t.co/qczt8mlCxB”.

A few minutes later at 4:04 a.m. UTC, she posted another message: “Rest in Peace, General. You are loved. – CNM”.

At 4:29 a.m. UTC, Mace shared additional reflections about her father’s passing and her faith: “As heartbroken as I am tonight, today showed me God is real. Today unfolded exactly as He intended. And it was nothing short of a miracle. General Mace is now a son of the King. Rest in peace, Dad. I love you, and I’ll see you again.”

Nancy Mace has served in Congress since 2021 after previously serving in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020 and graduating from The Citadel in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently resides in Charleston.
