Rep. Nancy Mace, a U.S. Congresswoman representing South Carolina’s 1st district since 2021, posted a series of tweets on September 16, 2025, criticizing Rep. Ilhan Omar and announcing plans to file a privileged motion to censure her and remove her from committee assignments.
In the first post at 01:00 UTC, Mace wrote: “Ilhan Omar has shown us exactly who she is: she defends political violence and refuses to condemn the loss of innocent lives when it doesn’t suit her agenda, even the cold-blooded assassination of Charlie Kirk. Its dangerous, disgraceful, and beneath the United States Congress.”
Later that morning at 01:43 UTC, Mace stated: “Free speech isn’t free from consequences. Tomorrow, we are filing a PRIVILEGED motion to censure Ilhan Omar and remove her from her committees. This will force a vote. Half measures are not enough any more. Ilhan Omar is not compatible with our American values. She has no”
At 02:34 UTC on the same day, Mace also posted: “From the White House to every house: Charlie Kirk’s legacy is alive and unstoppable.”
Nancy Mace succeeded Joe Cunningham in Congress after winning election in 2020 and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently residing in Charleston, she graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
