Since taking office, U.S. Representative Nancy Mace has returned over $35 million to constituents in South Carolina’s 1st District through casework assistance, according to an announcement from her office on September 23, 2025. The funds were recovered by helping residents navigate federal agencies and resolve issues related to veterans’ benefits, Social Security claims, Medicare assistance, and passport processing.
“Since taking office, our office has returned more than $35 million to constituents by breaking down bureaucratic barriers and holding federal agencies accountable to the people they serve,” said Congresswoman Mace. “Every dollar recovered and every case resolved represents a family supported, a veteran helped, or a neighbor given peace of mind. No one works harder for the Lowcountry than we do.”
Mace’s office reports that it frequently assists with matters such as disability applications and benefit appointments through the Social Security Administration; guidance regarding federal tax returns and Employee Retention Tax Credit claims with the Internal Revenue Service; and support for community care appointments and benefits claims with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Constituents are encouraged to reach out directly to Mace’s Charleston or Beaufort offices or visit her official website for help with federal casework.
Nancy Mace began serving in Congress in 2021 after replacing Joe Cunningham as representative of South Carolina’s 1st district. Before joining Congress, she served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently lives in Charleston. Mace graduated from The Citadel in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
