Rep. Nancy Mace, U.S. Congresswoman representing South Carolina’s 1st district, posted a series of tweets on January 8, 2026, addressing recent law enforcement actions and criticizing Democratic leadership in Minnesota.
In her first post at 2:45 a.m. UTC, Mace stated: “The Department of Homeland Security has made over 1,000 arrests in Minnesota of alleged murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and gang members. The Somali fraud scandal in Minnesota has cracked the state wide open, exposing disastrous negligence by the Democrats running the state.”
An hour later, she continued her criticism with another tweet: “Democrats had a lot to screech about today. Screech louder. It won’t save you. Your act might work on MSNBC, but not in this committee. The fraud is on Democrats, we know it, they know it, we all know it.” This message appeared to reference ongoing political debates and hearings related to the alleged fraud case.
In a third post at 4:26 a.m. UTC, Mace added: “You don’t get to rebrand violence as virtue.”
Nancy Mace has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Joe Cunningham and previously held office in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently resides in Charleston. Mace graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
Her comments come amid ongoing scrutiny regarding fraud investigations and law enforcement activities within Minnesota.
