Rep. Nancy Mace, who represents South Carolina’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on her recent community engagements and personal reflections through a series of posts on social media between May 10 and May 11, 2026.
On May 10, Mace posted about meeting with local law enforcement leadership: “Always a pleasure to meet with Yemassee’s Chief Alexander and check in on the department. Keeping these relationships strong across our community is key to everything we do here in the Lowcountry. Waffle House for breakfast in true Mace fashion, of course. South Carolina”.
The following day, coinciding with Mother’s Day, she addressed issues related to abuse of power: “Today is Mother’s Day. As a mom, watching predators in positions of power prey on young women is unconscionable. This isn’t a matter of party or politics. It’s a matter of justice. A slap on the wrist isn’t enough. If you abuse your power to prey on women, you belong in jail.”
Later that morning, Mace reported on discussions with local government officials: “Our office met with Councilwoman Julia Drayton-Crumblin of the Town of James Island to talk about focus points and priorities for the town. From resiliency, to sidewalk funding, to zoning issues. We plan on connecting them with funding programs as well as emergency management”.
Nancy Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st District since 2021 after succeeding Joe Cunningham and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and currently residing in Charleston at age 45, she graduated from The Citadel in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
