Rep. Nancy Mace, U.S. Congresswoman representing South Carolina’s 1st district, shared a series of updates on September 9, 2025, addressing legislative efforts on law enforcement funding, government transparency regarding unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), and support for service members in her home state.
On the evening of September 8, Mace announced new legislation aimed at municipalities’ accountability in law enforcement. She wrote: “We introduced the Lawless Cities Accountability Act ensuring municipalities who refuse to enforce the law do not receive a single taxpayer dollar. A nation abandoning law and order cannot endure, and we will not stand by while it happens.” (September 9, 2025)
The following morning, Mace addressed ongoing work with her colleagues on issues related to government transparency. She posted: “UAPs, government secrets, and the fight for transparency, we’re covering it all this morning with the @GOPoversight Declassification Task Force. Stay tuned.” (September 9, 2025)
Later that day, she highlighted her commitment to supporting military personnel from South Carolina’s Lowcountry region: “For the Lowcountry, this means fighting to make sure our service members, many of whom call South Carolina home, get the pay, benefits, and support they deserve. It means cutting waste so more resources reach our bases, shipyards, and families here at home. And it means ending” (September 9, 2025)
Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st district in Congress since replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021. Prior to her tenure in Congress beginning in January of that year, she served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Born in Fort Bragg in 1977 and currently residing in Charleston, she graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
