Congresswoman Nancy Mace said on May 28 that her work in Congress has focused on protecting South Carolina seniors, highlighting legislative actions and constituent services aimed at safeguarding Social Security, Medicare, and addressing senior fraud and exploitation.
Mace said, “South Carolina seniors deserve a representative who shows up and delivers results, not one who makes promises and disappears. We have returned over $1.5 million directly to constituents, supported major tax relief so seniors keep more of what they earned, and introduced legislation to make sure every benefit seniors earned stays in their hands. South Carolina seniors deserve nothing less and we are not done yet.”
Among the legislative measures cited by Mace are the One Big Beautiful Bill Act—which she said delivers a new $6,000 tax deduction for seniors ($12,000 for married couples), resulting in 88% of Social Security recipients paying no federal income taxes on their benefits—and bills restricting Medicare and Medicaid benefits to illegal aliens. She also referenced introducing the Preserving Social Security and Medicare for Citizens Act; voting for several bipartisan acts aimed at preventing financial exploitation of older adults; cosponsoring legislation targeting guardianship fraud; supporting improved access to care through electronic prior authorization standards; and backing coverage for PFAS blood testing under Medicare.
Mace reported that her office has solved 828 constituent cases with the Social Security Administration—returning $1.2 million in benefits—and resolved 214 cases with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), returning $323,000 back to constituents.
Nancy Mace is currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing South Carolina’s 1st district after replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021, according to the U.S. House of Representatives. She previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020. Mace was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and lives in Charleston. She graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
