Congresswoman Nancy Mace reaffirmed on Mar. 25 her opposition to deploying U.S. ground troops in Iran after a House Armed Services Committee briefing about the ongoing conflict.
Mace’s position comes as debate continues over possible military involvement and additional funding for operations related to Iran. She said, “We will not support any effort to put U.S. troops on the ground in Iran.” Mace also warned, “The Washington war machine is trying to turn Iran into another Iraq. Our troops are not to be used for another endless war.”
Mace acknowledged President Trump’s actions in the region but cautioned Congress against yielding to pressure for further escalation. She expressed concern about discrepancies between public statements and information shared privately with lawmakers, saying, “There is a clear gap between what’s being said publicly and what we were told behind closed doors. This is deeply concerning. The longer this conflict goes on, the faster it will lose support in Congress and across the country.”
Reports indicate that the Pentagon may seek an additional $200 billion for efforts connected to Iran. In response, Mace said, “If a single American boot touches Iranian soil, I will vote no. I will not fund sending South Carolina’s sons and daughters to die in a ground war in Iran. If being wrong means standing up for our military, then I don’t want to be right.”
Nancy Mace currently serves as a member of Congress representing South Carolina’s 1st district after replacing Joe Cunningham in 2021 according to available records.
She has represented South Carolina’s 1st District since 2021 and previously served from 2018-2020 in the state House of Representatives according to legislative history.
Mace was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1977 and resides today in Charleston; she is currently age 45 based on biographical information.
She graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999.
