Residents of South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District are being urged to prepare for significant snowfall this weekend, as forecasts indicate a rare winter storm for the Lowcountry. Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) is working with local officials and emergency managers to ensure communities are ready.
“We don’t get snow in the Lowcountry very often, so making sure everyone in our district is safe and prepared is our top priority,” said Congresswoman Mace. “Stock up on what you need today, charge your devices, and have a plan. Our office is working closely with local officials to ensure our communities have everything they need to get through this storm safely.”
According to current projections, Charleston County may see about 2 inches of snow, with areas like Awendaw-McClellanville possibly receiving closer to 3 inches. Dorchester and Berkeley Counties are expected to experience between 4 and 6 inches of accumulation. Beaufort County forecasts predict 1 to 2 inches for Hilton Head and Beaufort areas. The snowfall is anticipated to start Saturday morning and continue into early Sunday.
Residents are advised to stock up on groceries and essential supplies, fill gas tanks, charge electronic devices, secure necessary medications, avoid travel during the storm unless absolutely necessary, and follow guidance from local emergency management.
