City of Goose Creek issued the following announcement on September 18.
Cop Stop -- the initiative that sees residents prepare home-cooked meals for Police Officers -- is celebrating its fifth year in Goose Creek. Mayor Habib and Goose Creek Police Chief LJ Roscoe were on hand Saturday morning as Cop Stop supporter Susan Cresswell and family provided a great breakfast to GCPD officers. Below is a note from Darlene Thrall of Goose Creek Cop Stop:
I want to inform residents about a fantastic program called Cop Stop. Hopefully, it will spark interest in starting programs throughout the area and encourage individuals to participate.
Cop Stop is a national program started by Joanna and Bob Young in 2014 in Germantown, TN. Goose Creek Cop Stop started on Sept. 20, 2016, and was signed into proclamation on Sept. 20, 2017. We are celebrating our now celebrating our five-year anniversary.
Cop Stop’s vision is to honor the heroes that protect and serve our communities every day. Cop Stop’s mission is to provide fellowship and goodwill by opening homes and providing home-cooked family style meals to local law enforcement. The host can encourage family, friends and neighbors to work together to host. You can host in your home, church, clubhouse, or even in a park.
Goose Creek Cop Stop’s specific goal is to encourage personal relationships between communities and law enforcement in an effort to foster a community-police relationship. Since the beginning, five years ago, we have served the Goose Creek Police Department at least once every weekend, during COVID we sent meals to the police department for public heath safety. This program has been invaluable to our city and we would love more volunteers.
