City of Goose Creek: Dr. Heitzler's Goose Creek History Lecture series returns this fall

City of Goose Creek issued the following announcement on September 26.

Dr. Michael Heitzler's popular Goose Creek History Lecture series will return this fall. The series, which traces the area's history from the first settlers to modern day Goose Creek, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays in October and November at the Goose Creek Fire Department Headquarters Station (201 Button Hall Avenue). The lectures are free to attend, and open to all residents and visitors. 

Here is a look at this year's schedule:

Oct. 7:  Founding Fathers of the Deep South

Oct. 14: Eighteen-Mile House Tavern

Oct. 21: Blackbeard, Wateree Jack, Ghosts and Ghouls                        

Oct. 28: Revolution in the Creek

Nov. 4: Civil War in an Uncivil Land                                                       

Nov. 11: Reconstruction and Beyond

Nov. 18: Bar Fights and the Rise of the Modern City of Goose Creek
