Berkeley Chamber of Commerce: Moncks Corner, Home Telecom Partner for the Miracle League

51

Berkeley Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on October 27.

The Town of Moncks Corner is proud to announce that Home Telecom will be the naming sponsor for the new Miracle League Field to be constructed at the Regional Recreation Complex.

With its headquarters located only a mile away from the complex, Home Telecom is not only a business leader in the community, but they have leadership dedicated to the growth and development of Moncks Corner.

“This is such a huge day for Moncks Corner and for our citizens who need us the most,” said Mayor Michael Lockliear.  “I can’t thank Home Telecom and William Helmly enough for their generosity.”

Helmly explains that nothing is more important to a community than the health and well-being of its children.

“Home Telecom is known for our commitment to education throughout our communities, and sports and other activities are an important part of that,” said Helmly. “Athletics at every age and every level of ability teaches teamwork, perseverance, and leadership skills they will be able to apply in other areas of their lives.”

Helmly continues, “Home Telecom is honored to have the opportunity to give back to the community that supports us.”

Miracle League is a national organization that provides opportunities for those with disabilities to play baseball.  As they say in their mission statement, “We cannot change or cure the medical issues life has dealt children with disabilities.  What we can do is provide them with an opportunity to experience the joy and benefits that come from playing our national pastime – baseball.”

The Regional Recreation Complex opened in 2014 and has over 50 acres of athletic opportunity, with four baseball fields, football & soccer fields, and two basketball courts. The Home Telecom Miracle League Field is the next step in offering quality athletics to the Town’s citizens. The field is scheduled to open in the fall of 2022 for its first season, featuring at least four teams of children with special needs. Each player will be shadowed by a “buddy,” ensuring every player has the help they need to play ball.

The Town has been blessed with numerous sponsors and grants since planning began in 2018.

With a $250,000 contribution to support our youth with the creation of this field, Home Telecom is now the field’s biggest private donor.
