Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston: Nativity exhibit: “Come to the Manger”

65

Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston recently issued the following announcement.

The “Come to the Manger” crèche exhibit and crafts will be celebrated Nov. 19-21 at St. Ann Church in Florence at the new parish life center, 113 S. Kemp Street.

The St. Ann Ladies Guild have hosted this Florence community event for 10 years with over 150 nativities from around the world shared by parishioners and others in the community. Inspired by the annual crèche festival at Mepkin Abbey, the exhibit consists of global nativity scenes plus those that had been in families for generations, including traditional nativities plus artistic ones such as a bird nativity, a Charlie Brown nativity, and one made from foil wrappers. A booklet will be provided with the history of each crèche. The schedule is:

  • Friday, Nov. 19 — 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 20 — 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 21 — 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The exhibit is a family-friendly event and admission is free. There will be a crafts and baked goods sale, along with the nativity displays. It is the hope of the St. Ann Ladies Guild that in sponsoring this event, everyone will experience a special beginning to the Advent season.
