Town of Moncks Corner issued the following announcement on December 17.
Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Robert Thomas on being selected as our officer of the 3rd quarter. Sgt. Thomas responded to a woman experiencing a mental health crisis who was armed with a knife and threatened suicide. When the woman turned the knife on herself, Sgt. Thomas was able to disarm her preventing her from harming herself or anyone else. Sgt. Thomas risked his own safety to save the woman and get her mental health treatment.
