Berkeley County Government issued the following announcement on January. 27
*DID YOU KNOW?* The National Association of State 911 Administrators has announced that old devices might not work in 2022, even to call 911! This includes cell phones, smart watches, medical alert devices, tablets, car systems and security devices.
• AT&T will discontinue 3G service in February
• T-Mobile/Sprint will discontinue 3G service in March/July
• Verizon will discontinue 3G service at the end of 2022
Most users of these services will be notified directly by the carriers if this discontinuation affects them. However, users of older phones used for 911 only purposes may not be notified if they don't have active service with the provider.
