Berkeley County Middle College High School: PHOTOS: CAREER DAY AT GCE

11

Berkeley County Middle College High School issued the following announcement on April 8.

A little rain did not put a damper on Goose Creek Elementary’s students heading outside for some fun during Thursday’s Career Day event.

Students got to meet – and pet – a four-legged member of the Goose Creek Police Department’s K-9 unit. They climbed inside of a giant Goose Creek Police S.W.A.T. vehicle. They cuddled with a dog named Princess, who is up for adoption at the Berkeley Animal Shelter. They ran around with goats from a local goat owner and learned about the art of making guitars from a local craftsman.

The children also had a lot of different vehicles to check out. Aside from the different police patrol cars, they got to see a tow truck from Jim’s Towing & Transport, a firetruck from the Goose Creek Fire Department, a bucket truck from Berkeley Electric Cooperative, and a trailer from the police department’s Community Oriented Policing Services (C.O.P.S.) program.

Students also visited with Animal Control, the U.S. Forest Service, Palmetto Railroads, Camp Leopold, NIWC (formerly SPAWAR) and Kona Ice, among other visitors.

Be sure to flip through more photos of students having fun learning about different careers.
