Berkeley County School District is happy to share that the OneBerkeley Back to School Festival is making a comeback this year.
Students return to school on Aug. 15, and BCSD is ready to help students and families start the year off on a high note by hosting a morning full of fun activities at the Moncks Corner Regional Recreational Complex the weekend prior to the first day of school.
The festival will run from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 13.
The district will be giving out more than 3,000 pre-filled book bags stuffed with school supplies on a first-come, first-serve basis to families who come out to the festival (parents who come to the festival must have a school-aged child with them in order to receive a bag). School supplies include items like composition notebooks, crayons, colored pencils, rules, notebook paper and more.
While they are at the festival, students and families will enjoy performances by some of BCSD’s high school bands, and will even get to meet Charlie the RiverDog.
Students are also invited to check out the Berkeley County Bookmobile, and swing by the Creating Engaging Minds booth to do some fun hands-on activities.
About 20 tents will be set up for families to learn more about different programs offered in the school district, and a few community members will also have tents set up. Food will be available for purchase from food truck vendors.
The Moncks Corner Regional Recreational Complex is located at 418 E Main St.
