This festive holiday tradition at Devon Forest Elementary has officially reached the double digits.
Every year since 2012, teachers and staff come together to go caroling in some of the school’s nearby neighborhoods with the hopes of igniting some holiday cheer among their students and their families.
The 2022 excursion took place Tuesday evening, when everybody donned their gay apparel – elf ears and reindeer antlers were especially popular this year – and met up in one of the school parking lots to start caroling. After singing to small group of onlookers outside the school, teachers boarded a school bus and went to go do the same thing at several neighborhoods within DFE's attendance zone.
Teachers and staff serenaded spectators with a handful of classics like “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”; each neighborhood visit ended with “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
A few of the students who turned out to support their teachers got dressed in their holiday best as well and joined in on the singing. And following each performance, students eagerly ran up to their teachers and hugged them.
